Dr. George Copeland, Assistant Superintendent for Business Affairs, began by reporting that the school district is self insured for Property, Casualty, and Liability insurances.  He then introduced the following representatives who were present to assist in presentation of the workshop item:

Mr. Fainstein provided Board Members with a copy of the Clay County School District Renewal Executive Summary for June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2014, and reviewed service highlights, marketplace status, risk characteristics, and renewal options and rates.

Mrs. Adams explained that Information Services had been working on the revision of the Student Responsible Use Guidelines for some time, and that they were happy with the final product.

5. Comments

Minutes: 

Superintendent Van Zant announced that there would be no disciplinary hearings for the regular meeting on June 20th, leaving only one SPR to be heard.  The student hearing time was moved from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on June 20.  (Note:  Later that afternoon, the SPR that was scheduled to be heard was resolved and Board Members were notified by email there would be no need to meet early for student hearings on June 20, 2013.)

Mr. Van Zant also announced that discussion with some principals had resulted in the decision to combine Orientation with Open House in the junior high schools during Pre-Planning, and to schedule Data meetings with parents later in the year to discuss student progress.
